Sungai Gabai Outing

My family and I  went to Sungai Gabai with our cell group members on the first day of the school holidays. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was fun and refreshing. The water was freezing cold. Here are some photos to share with you.

Shaun glued himself to Mami all the time

My first pet......Pillowpet

I have been asking for Dadi and Mami to buy me a pet. I always wanted a pet. Dadi was keen, but unfortunately, Mami felt that it was an added responsibility for her. She did not like the idea of a pet moving around the house, or even needing to clean or change water from a fish bowl.

Mami managed to make a deal with me. No pets in the house. In return, she would buy me something closes to a pet..... A pillowpet.

Dadi and Mami brought Shaun and I to choose one each. We came back with these.

I chose a purple hippo

Shaun chose Barkie, the dog

Doesn't it look nice, soft and cuddly?

A surprise note

I was a little bored last night. Mami had gone with my little brother for music class. So, I decided to make something to surprise her.

After making it, I quickly went to bed. When Mami came back about 9p.m., she entered my room to check on me. I was already asleep, snoring away (a light snore). After that, she entered into her bathroom and......taa-daa........... this was what she saw behind the bathroom door.

Mami was pleasantly surprised. She was so happy, she gave me a few kisses this morning.

It may not be the best art and craft work (because I am certainly not an artistic person), but it was definitely a work from my heart.

MPH Voucher for reading

Once again I managed to obtain MPH RM50 vouchers from the school for borrowing and reading library books. My school would give RM20 for reading 8 English books and RM30 for reading 8 BM books within the period of 3 months. Mami was pleased with me. Mami asked me to keep it up and hopefully I am able to obtain more for the period July - September 2012.

I am happy because Mami is happy.

School Scrapbook Project

We had to do a scrapbook for our Bahasa Malaysia subject. The topic was on "Buah-Buahan". We had 3 weeks to complete it. Due to other incentives, I did an additional scrapbook with the topic "Sayur-Sayuran".

Mami took a few pictures of my scrapbooks which I handed in yesterday.

The cover of my Buah - Buahan scrapbook

The cover of my Sayur - Sayuran scrapbook

Did you notice that my 1st scrapbook looks better than my 2nd?

I would like to also thank Mami, Dadi and Ah Mah for helping me in this project. We had a great family time doing this project together.

Results for English Week

God is good and gracious. I am so thankful to Him.

I participated in four events and won titles for three events.

We first had a Show and Tell. I showed the photoframe with the picture of my brother and I.
I won second place for the Show and Tell.

My speech as follows:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good morning teachers and friends. My name is Benjamin Lee. I am from 1 Aman.

Today, I would like to show you something very special to me. Do you know what this is?

Yes, this is a photoframe.

There are two things special about this. Firstly, this photoframe was handmade by me. I made this photoframe during my last birthday. Secondly, this is a picture of my little brother and I. This picture was taken when I was four years old and my little brother was still a baby. He is so cute in this picture. I wish he can be cute forever. I love him very much, and I hope that we can be best friends forever.

Thank you.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Next, we had Spell-It-Right, i.e. Spelling Bee competition. I came in second place as well.

I also participated in the Read and Write competition. In my earlier post, I mentioned that we had to read a book from the library and write a summary of the story. I won first place for this. The reward was a blue pen with a yellow highlighter.

Finally, there was a Read-It-Right competition. I participated in this as well. We were given a very short story. It was an impromptu reading with expression. I was able to read the story, but my expression was not impressive. I did not win for this event.

I really enjoyed my English Week. It was a great experience for me and I thank God for helping me in all my events.

I look forward for the events for Mandarin Week after the school holidays. I wonder what the events would be like???

My Ambition at 7 years old

I had to answer two questions in Sunday School today. What is my interest and what would I want to be when I grow up. My answers were.........

Badminton and Badminton player like Dato' Lee Chong Wei.

My surname is Lee too. So, why not?

On a separate note, I shall pray that Dato' Lee Chong Wei wins gold medal in the London Olympics later. Why? Because I want the country to declare tomorrow as a public holiday.

Badminton lessons

A schoolmate and I started taking badminton lessons 2 months ago. We started off once a week, and now we started badminton training twice a week. My coach is an ex-national player, Ms. Chor Hooi Yee. She has many training centres, under Hooi Yee Sports Sdn Bhd. She is a great coach, and I really enjoy training under her.

All set to go for my Badminton Training

Almost the end of English Week

Tomorrow is the end of English Week. It has been an exciting week for all of us in school. Besides competing in a few categories, my friends and I had some time to play games like scrabbles, snap, UNO and snake & ladder. However, don't misunderstand that there is no studying at all. We only get to play these games during our English period.

I would also like to share with you another competition category. It is "Read a Book, and Write a Report". We were given a period to go into the library to borrow an English Book. We had to read this book and summarize the story with our own simple words. Next, we had to write it into a paper given to us. Fortunately, we were able to bring the paper back to complete. So, Mami helped me a little in this.

I can't wait till English Week is over. I hope there would be favourable results in all the categories that I participated in.

Opening Ceremony of English Week

I was privileged to be chosen to partner my classmate to participate in the opening ceremony of the English Week. There were 3 pairs representing Standard One. It was just a grand walk-in into the school hall for us. These are our photos.

English Week

My school is celebrating English Week next Monday. It will be an exciting week for me again and I can't wait for it to come.

After going through the BM Week, I was initially not very determined to participate in the English Week. As Mami advised me, "Let others have a chance to win trophies this time". However, everyone had to participate during the elimination week.

Last week, we had an adhoc spelling test. The words were not given to us before. The best 3 with highest scores in each class would enter into the Spelling Bee Finals during the English Week. I did well, and was chosen for the finals. Here are my results.

After that, we had a "Show and Tell" elimination session. I brought my favourite photoframe because I handmade this during my last birthday and it was a picture of my little brother and I. I was 4 years old back then, and Shaun Shaun was still a baby.

God was gracious, and I was also selected for the "Show and Tell" finals. There were 5 students in each class who entered into the finals.

There would also be a colouring contest tomorrow, but I have never won any colouring contest before.

And finally, there would be an opening ceremony of the English Week after assembly next Monday. I was chosen with 5 other students from Primary One to dress up like an Englishman. I will be wearing a suit, to walk (with a beautiful classmate of mine) into the hall for the opening ceremony. I am not quite sure what I need to do, as the rehearsal would only start today.

I thank God for His favour and I am indeed happy to be able to actively participate in my school activities.

Ooh...before I forget... there would be a Mandarin Week too..... in the month of September. I wonder if I am good enough to participate. This would certainly be a difficult one for me.

BM Week results

My school was very generous in giving prizes to us. For every class, they gave trophies to the top 3 winners for the 1st four days. For the final day, trophies were given to top 3 within each standard.

The results as follows:

For "Pertandingan Permainan Congkak" - won 3rd place
For "Pertandingan Mencari Perkataan Tersembunyi" - won 2nd place
For "Pertandingan Pakaian Tradisional" - won 1st place
For "Pertandingan Tunjuk and Cerita" Pusingan Terakhir - won 3rd place

So, I received 3 small trophies for the first 3 items above and 1 big trophy for the last item. I am so thankful to God that my hard work of memorizing my "Show and Tell" event paid off.

Below was my speech for the "show and tell" finals:

Selamat Sejahtera guru-guru and rakan - rakan sekalian.

Nama saya Benjamin Lee. Saya pelajar xxxxxx. Saya akan menyampaikan sebuah pantun.

Budak 1 Aman comel berisi,
Banyak belajar, jarang bermonyet.
Baju Melayu, baju tradisi,
Dilengkapi songkok, lilitan songkek.

Saya sedang memakai Baju Melayu cekak musang. Baju Melayu saya dilengkapi songkok and kain samping. Baju Melayu biasanya dipakai pada hari perayaan atau majlis-majlis. Baju Melayu juga dipakai untuk menunaikan sembahyang Jumaat.

Sekian, terima kasih.

Thank you God for blessing me throughout all the events.

English week is coming soon and I told Mami that I shall be more relax and allow my other friends to win the prizes.

I am going into finals...

From the title of the post, it sounds like this is a super duper big event. Actually, this is just a small event, but perhaps big for me.

3 days of activities have passed in school. This week, the school is celebrating Bahasa Malaysia week. So, my friends and I are really happy excited.

On Monday, we had a congkak competition and I came in 3rd place. On Tuesday, we had a crossword puzzle competition and I came in 2nd place. Yesterday, we had a show and tell competition. I wore a Baju Melayu and I came in 1st place within my class. I am now qualified to enter the finals, competing with other classes this Friday.

Sharing some photos with you.

My friend is wearing an Iban costume

My friend is wearing prettiest top of all.
My friend's top is from Vietnam

This is my best friend, wearing a Chinese top

BM week

I am so excited. My school will be having BM week next week and there will be lots of fun activities. Every student is required to participate in all events. For a start I need to buy a traditional costume. With the costume, I need to present myself, providing a 10 lines speech about my costume. Two best performers will be selected to compete with other classes. Next, we will have a congkak competition. I have no idea how to play congkak. I guess I need to start surfing on the internet to learn how to play congkak.

Little Coin Box from my BM teacher

My BM teacher in school had created this programme in class for us to collect stars. We collect stars primarily for completing our work nicely and correctly. I was the first student in my class to reach up to 110 stars. So, I managed to get a special gift from my BM teacher. Other students will also be able to receive a gift from the teacher once they have collected 110 stars.

Thank you God for helping me.

Galactic Laser at MidValley

It was an occasional holiday today for my school because of report card collection day last weekend. Some friends and their siblings and their friends met at MidValley Megamall to play in the Galactic Laser. It was really fun.

There were 24 of us, comprising of Primary One to Primary Six children. We were initially planning to divide into 2 groups fairly, but the Primary Six children insisted that they form their own group. So, it was 11 Primary Six children versus 13 remaining children, consisting of Primary One to Primary Five.

It was pretty obvious that the older kids won the battles. Nevertheless, we all had lots of fun. It was also nice to know new friends within the same school. As least I know a few prefects from the school.

Science Project

This is a little outdated. I had to do this Science Project during the last school holidays.

We were allowed to select the topic of this project. I chose the ocean because I felt that it was easier to decorate the ocean. My teacher gave the background of the ocean in a paper slightly bigger than A3 size. I was also given a paper with pictures of sea animals. We needed to colour them and paste it onto the background. We could use anything to colour the picture.

I coloured my picture with colour pencils and added glitters as a finishing touch. I persuaded Mami to buy my 48 colour pencils so that I could colour in different tones. I certainly had some help from Dadi and Mami. Mami helped me with some toning and the cutting of the pictures. Dadi helped me with the glitter.

Thank you Dadi and Mami for helping me.

Special Delivery

Shaun Shaun and I received a special delivery all the way from Ipoh. It was sent through Pos Laju.

I was all excited when I came back from school last Friday to see our package. I immediately opened it and this was what we received....

It was a box of BEYBLADES! Mah Mah bought this for us as a reward for my good results in school. The box came with 2 attack and 1 balance beyblades, with a yellow launcher. Mah Mah knew that I like the balance type and Shaun prefers the attack type. However, when we started playing them, my little brother claimed that his was the balance type. This has always been Shaun's habit once he sees a beyblade more powerful than another. So, I am left with the attack ones which are not my favourites.

Nevertheless, I still enjoy playing them, and I guess I did not mind giving mine to my little brother.

Thank you Mah Mah for this wonderful present. Shaun Shaun and I have been playing with this all day.

Confidential Report

Mami came to school yesterday and met my teacher to collect my Confidential Report. I have done well and Mami is really proud of me. The teacher managed to share one weakness of mine. My teacher mentioned that I would normally avoid eye contact when I talk. I am normally shy to look at people in the eyes. She spotted it when I had to go in front to talk to the class. Mami knew about this weakness of mine and is amazed with the teacher who is sharp at observing this. This proves my relevation about this teacher. I have always told my Mami that this teacher has eyes like an eagle. She can see anything we do, even though we do not see her physical presence. No wonder she is also the disciplinary teacher in our school. Nevertheless, I am proud that she is my class teacher. She is a very dedicated and good teacher. I respect her very much. I thank God for her.

Teapot for my Dadi

I made this beautiful teapot for Dadi in school last week for the occasion of Father's Day. Dadi hasn't seen this yet.

It is just not a normal teapot. It has a special love note inside......

No Father's Day celebration

Dadi was not around for Father's Day. We were unable to celebrate earlier as Dadi only knew about his business trip a few days before. I was a little disappointed, but i know that Dadi had no choice.

Nevertheless, Dadi received cards from Shaun Titi and I before he left and I managed to wish him over the phone on Father's Day.

I hope to be able to celebrate this occasion next year, or perhaps we can have a belated Father's Day. Not sure if we can celebrate this weekend. Dadi is away again next week.

It's fun to learn about money

My teacher introduced the topic of money for our Mathematics subject in school last week. She came into the classroom one day and showed us some printed fake money. She said that we would have to earn our own money to buy gifts. A gift stall would be set up this week for us to buy our gifts. This really made me extremely excited. To earn the money, we needed to answer questions correctly during classes and math worksheets. This teacher is also our Science Teacher. So, we have an opportunity to earn money through Science work. So far I have managed to collect more than RM2.00. I thinking I should be able to buy a keychain from the gift stall. I remember seeing lots and lots of keychains. I just can't wait to be able to earn more money this week.

Thank you Puan Jackie Man for being a great teacher.

Father's Day project

Aloha!

Our church is organising a night out for Father's Day and the theme is "Hawaiian Night". Dadi will have to be dressed for this occasion and I suggested to Mami that we should make something for Dadi to wear. Everyone at home participated in this project, inclusive of Mami and Ah Mah.

We started our Father's Day project yesterday and this is our outcome.....

I hope this will fit Dadi perfectly well.

Laser Tag

My Ku Cheong brought us to play laser tag in Ipoh.

We were all equipped with a vest and laser tag which were lighted based on our team colour. My team consists of all kids and our opponent team members were Dadi, Ku Chong and Yeh Yeh. Only Mami joined my team to watch over my TiTi.
We entered into a dark maze and we had to look for our opponent and shoot at the areas which were lighted on the opponent's vest or laser tag. Every player would earn marks once we shot our opponents. If we were shot, our laser tag would be disabled for about 4 seconds.
It was a fun day...

My first week of school holidays

The first week of school holidays has come to an end. I had lots of fun. I think it is the best school holidays ever.

Straight after school last Friday, my family and I took the Electronic Train Services to Ipoh. The pleasant journey only took 2 hours and 15 minutes. We spent 3 nights with Mah Mah and Yeh Yeh, and Ku Ku's family. It was the best Ipoh trip because we had lots of fun.

Last Wednesday, I went to Megakidz and played with a few classmates. Mami was amazed that we played from 10:15 till 3:15 p.m.

The next day, I went for roller blading with some cousins and relatives. I was amazed that my Shaun TiTi was able to roller blade after trying for about 45 minutes.

Was I tired? Certainly not. On Friday, I started my first badminton lesson at Taman Segar Perdana. It was tiring but certainly satisfying. Dadi felt my excitement and today, Dadi booked the badminton court and the entire family had a tiring one hour badminton game.

Mami feels really tired now. We have practically gone out everyday since I left from Ipoh, and she has not rested well. Although we have been going out, I have not forgotten all my homework and revision. Mami has ensured that I complete my revision in the morning before I go out.

Hhm.... I wonder what we will be doing next week? So far, we have another roller blading appointment with my classmates next week. I can't wait because there would be a reasonable big crowd next week.

Kids Prayer

I was chosen to sing for Teacher's Day this Friday in my school. I thank God for His favour. I was certainly delighted when I was chosen.

When I told Mami about this, I shared with Mami that it is a very beautiful song. Mami said it was indeed a meaningful song. I want to share this song here in my blog. I hope that this song can be every child's prayer.

Dear God,
thank you for loving me,and giving me your all.
When I grow up,I will still be serving you.
I want to know you more, I want to love you more.
I'll never forget you,Lord.
In Jesus' name,amen.

I want to know You Lord
You are a great big God
I'm young and do not know a lot
Come and be my all
I want to Love You more
Giving you my life and all
You die for me you’ve sacrificed.
I won't forget You Lord

I love You Jesus
I will grow up knowing you
I love You Jesus
I will grow up serving you
I love You Jesus
My life is saved by you

I will never forget never forget,
I will grow up knowing you
