Class Monitor Badge

I was earlier appointed as the Class Monitor during the first week of school for the month of January. We rotate the Class Monitor on a monthly basis so that everyone gets a change to be a Class Monitor or Assistant Class Monitor.

Yesterday, my teacher gave me the Class Monitor Badge. I was so happy, at the same time sad. Happy because I love to wear the badge. However, the month of January is coming to an end. I can only wear the badge for 2 days and it's another person's turn to wear the badge. It seems that my teacher had forgotten to give the badge out earlier.

Good bye to Chinese New Year holidays

It's back to school now, and I am really sad. I had lots of fun in Ipoh. Here are some pictures of what we did in Ipoh.

Harvesting Bananas in Ipoh

There is a big banana tree in Yeh Yeh's garden in Ipoh. Dadi and Yeh Yeh were harvesting bananas.

Chop...chop....chop......
Huge...huge....

We were happy to witness the harvesting

Dino Pillowcase

Mami bought this Dino Pillowcase last month for me from another mother who blogs via Facebook. She purchased the Cat Pillowcase for Shaun TiTi.

Shaun Shaun and I really love the pillowcases. It's nice to sleep on and I would sleep exactly how the boy sleeps in the photo with the dino pillowcase. I love to hold the dino legs at the edge. In fact, I have a habit of twisting the dino legs when I am falling asleep.

I hope to be able to bring this Dino Pillowcase to Ipoh during Chinese New Year.

Can I dance?

I can sing or and play the piano or electone. But can I dance?

Mami has always said that I look like a "wood" when it comes to dancing. Can't blame me, I'm probably just like her.

When it comes to dancing, I'm always very shy. My little brother too. Want to see my little brother dance?

We both like High School Musical very much. Once in a while, we will sing the songs from High School Musical together at home.

By the way, you can see my brother and I playing a duet (or pretending to play a duet) at Shaun Shaun's blog

A snapshot of my Electone performance

This was the song which I performed in Yamaha Claris Music last Sunday. It's quite a long song, so Mami had trimmed the video to upload into this blog.

This song is entitled "Appear" sung by a Korean singer Kim Bum Soo from the Korean movie: Secret Garden.

New Electone Book - Step 4

I will be starting this new electone book and I am very excited. It is certainly more difficult than the previous one, and I hope I'm able to play the pieces well. I am beginning to realise that the pieces are getting harder and harder. I am worried if I can cope with it.

Last night, Mami spent some time explaining to me that I have to trust that God will help me in all I do. Mami said that God is a mighty God who can do all things. She even taught me this song ....

Ah Lord God, Thou has made the heavens and the earth by
Thy great power
Ah Lord God, Thou has made the heavens and the earth by
Thy outstretched arms

Nothing is too difficult for Thee
Nothing is too difficult for Thee

Oh.. great and mighty God
Great in council and mighty indeed

Nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing
Nothing is too difficult for Thee

Mami said that this is an old song. So, we don't hear this in church anymore.  I need to learn how to trust God and put my worries behind me.

Food Allergy

If God would grant me a wish, I wish God will take away my allergy. I am lactose intolerant. I am also unable to eat eggs. I do not avoid eggs altogether, but Mami does control my egg intake.

I just wish that I can enjoy good food just like other people. I can't eat chocolates or ice creams or pizzas or drink milk shakes. Once in a while, Dadi and Mami would allow me to eat a little, but most of the time, it's a "No". My allergy symptoms differ from time to time. My worst symptom would be the swelling of my lips and gums which may lead to gum infection. I would have to take antibiotics if there is a gum infection. With a little dairy, I would normally have sore throat. I would have to gargle sea salt twice a day to prevent me from getting tonsillitis. Mami would also give me two doses of Esberitox each day.

I really envy other children who are able to eat anything they want. I have been praying that God will remove my allergy. I pray that God will grant me my heart's desire one day. Mami said that I have to be patient for the day to come.

Appear by Kim Bum Soo from the Soundtrack Secret Garden

I played the song "Appear" by Kim Bum Soo from the soundtrack of Secret Garden. Mami was unable to post the video of me playing the song because it was a rather long song. I was glad I played well today on the Electone. I am grateful to my music teacher for teaching me this song. It is my favourite korean song.

This is me ensuring that the settings are correct on the Electone.
My music teacher was "double checking" and helping me.

My lego creation

The following post was narrated by Benjamin.

This is my lego creation. I used my own imagination to build this. It is a house for my policeman. It took me alot of time to build this house.

I used alot of bricks to build this house. I use alot of "shinies" to decorate my house.

I hope my parents like this house. I hope you like this house too.

Music Practices

Mami has been very lenient on my music practices recently. I would normally take about 1 hour to practice my music daily. 30 minutes for my JXC Yamaha lessons and another 30 minutes for my individual Electone lessons. Since school started, I have been skipping some practices.

I really need to spend more time practising as my lessons are beginning to be tougher. This Sunday afternoon, there is a concert for 3 group classes. I was requested to play a Korean Song sung by Kim Bum Soo called "Appear" from the movie Secret Garden. It's my favourite song from this Korean movie. It has a fast and catchy rhythm.

I would normally practice the song at home on my Electone. We have an Electone Stagea-Mini (ELB-01) at home. It is an Electone entry level model. However, for the concert, I would need to play on a different model this Sunday. It is an ELS-01C so called custom model, carrying a larger number of voices and other features. It really sounds different and more grand from the Stagea mini.

Because it is a different model, I was requested to come this Saturday morning to Yamaha to practice on this model. I need to wear shoes to practice too. I am pretty excited about it. This electone model feels bigger to me. I hope I can play well on this model.

Happy News for the Day

This morning, I was reluctant to wake up from bed. I told Mami that I felt really tired and wanted to sleep longer. It was only 6 a.m.

I have been feeling really tired lately. I have to wake up at 6 a.m. as my Aunty van driver comes at 6:45 a.m. School starts at 7:45 a.m.. School ends at 2:35 p.m. and I would arrive home before 3:30 p.m. I guess I am still not used to skipping my afternoon naps. Mami or Dadi would normally put me to bed by 8:30 p.m., with the exception of Thursdays when I have music class at night.

I was really happy when Mami whispered a "surprise" news into my ears while I was drinking milk in my room. She said "I have a surprise and an idea for you this morning. What if I arrange for someone else to fetch your TiTi from Kindergarden and Mami would fetch Benjamin from school instead....". My eyes immediated opened. I was so happy. Immediately I felt some energy within me. I love the

This would mean that Mami would fetch me to school in the morning. We would probably leave about 7:10 a.m. from the house. I told Mami I would want to go as early as I can. Then, she would have to do her morning marketing after dropping me off on certain days. After that, she would come back and fetch Shaun TiTi at 8:30 a.m. to his Kindergarden. By 2:05 p.m., Mami has to leave the house to wait outside my school. As soon as school is over, I will go to the guard house and wait for her. I would certainly come back much earlier than before. As for Shaun TiTi, an uncle will fetch him back from school at 2:15 p.m. I hope this arrangement will work out fine. Mami said that she make start this arrangement next Monday. I was so excited when I heard this news from her.

I know Mami and Dadi love me very much. They are trying to make the best arrangements for me to ensure that I am happy and comfortable with my schooling days.

Teaching my brother chinese

I am worried over my Shaun Shaun TiTi's studies when he goes to my old Chinese Kindergarden. So, now I am giving him tuition using flashcards. I hope he will know a little bit of chinese when he goes to my old Chinese Kindergarden. I hope he will listen to me too.

Should I have a Facebook account?

My class teacher is on Facebook and she has a Facebook account for our class to join the group. My teacher would post our homework into Facebook everyday. It is also a place where parents is able to post any queries or comments to her. Sometimes she would also post some comments e.g. what we like to eat.

I know how to login to Facebook. I have been logging into Facebook everyday using my Mami's account, most of the time to play a game called Backyard Monster. Because of school, I am only able to access into Facebook for a little while just to check on my pet Monster. I also know how to post new comments and read the comments posted by others. I have posted comments to my teachers before.

I was just asking Mami if I could open a Facebook account on my own. Obviously Mami said no and she felt that it was unnecessary at this present moment. I wonder when would be the appropriate time to do so.

Me with glasses

This is how I would look like if I wore glasses. I certainly looked old.

This picture was taken at Kai Yeh's house on New Year's Eve. It was another Cheh Cheh's glass frame with no lenses.

My first Bible Q&A

We had chapel service in school yesterday. It was held in the school hall with all Primary 1, Primary 2 and Primary 3 students.

It was the first service of the year. A teacher taught us Genesis Chapter 1 about God's creation. After the teaching, the teacher asked questions about what God made in Day 1, Day 2, Day 3....etc.

I answered one of the question (of which I cannot remember now), and guess what? I received a gift for answering it correctly. I was one of the two Primary 1 students who answered a question. The remaining questions were answered by Primary 2 and 3 students.

My gift was a box of 50 Bible Quiz cards. It has questions and answers to test your bible knowledge. I shall bring this to Ipoh during Chinese New Year and test my Yeh Yeh and Mah Mah.

Dadi and Mami were proud of me. They were surprised that I was brave enough to put up my hands to answer a question in the midst of a big crowd of students.

School Isn't That Bad After All

Today, I came back from school happy. As I came down from Aunty Wong's van (it's an aunty who drives a small van), I ran into the house and smiled at Mami. Mami asked me how school was and I said it was ok.

I took my bathe and immediately took out all my books from my school bag. It was homework time.

There was a little more homework today compared to last week. The homework was really simple. For mathematics, I am learning numbers 1 - 10. I needed to write them in numeric and words form. I had to also draw objects based on the numbers given.

For Moral B subject (Bible knowledge), we were given a memory verse. It was a memory verse which I memorized when I was 4 years old. It was Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth". Isn't that simple?

I had a spelling test today, and I managed to get all correct. The words were simple too. I was given ejaan words today to practice at home. It will only be tested next week.

Mami asked if I was active in class. I told her that I was a little shy, but had received some praises from some teachers. I was really happy. I was also elected as the "Leader" in class. As the leader, I am required to take care of my friends, ensure that the class is not noisy and ensure that the lights and fan in the classroom is switched off during break time. My class teacher chose me. She said that I will be the leader in the month of January. The rest of the students will be given an opportunity because the teacher will choose a new leader every month.

There is also a duty roster for us to clean the class. There will be class inspection to see whose class is the cleanest. I hope my class would be chosen.

School is quite ok. I just dislike the long hours. It makes me really tired when I arrive home. But the teachers and friends are nice and easy to get along.

I thank God for allowing me to go to this school.

Super Duper Light School Bag

I am so happy when I came back from school. I told Mami that my school bag was really light because I only need to bring back books which requires revision or homework and my homework book.

I have a green homework book. I am supposed to write my homework in this book and my parents would need to check them and sign in the homework book to ensure that I had completed my work.

It is also a communication book. If there are notes for parents, I would need to write it into the book for my Dadi and Mami to read. If there is anything which I need to buy, Mami is able to request my teacher to buy and Mami would have to just give me the money in a sealed labelled envelope to be paid to my teacher. Teacher understands that some parents are unable to come to the bookshop to buy. The teachers will buy on our behalf.

This is my Homework Book

Notes that I write in my Homework book

Other than my homework book, I only had my Science Textbook and BM Workbook today. If a textbook is being used by the teacher, we are requested to bring it back to do revision. Same goes for our homework. All other books are left in my school desk or locker. All my "additional" exercise books are also left with the teachers for safekeeping.

Isn't it great that I don't need to carry my heavy books? My school bag is really super duper light.

My first day in Primary One

Dadi and Mami fetched me to school on my 1st day to Primary One. We went early to school.

I was happy at the beginning with Dadi and Mami. However, once assembly started, I felt really sad. I knew Dadi and Mami were still in school watching me from afar, but I really wanted to be with them. In the morning, I had teary eyes now and then. It was one point when Dadi suddenly came to me and I hugged him and cried for a few seconds. We were queuing outside the classroom to go to the toilet. After for about 1 minute or so, I stopped crying because I knew I had to follow my friends in the queue.

A little dark when we arrived school.

These are my classmates. 10 girls and 10 boys.
We were queuing outside our classroom to adjourn to the Assembly Hall.

Moving into the Assembly Hall

My classroom. I'm seated right behind in the middle row.
There are only 3 rows in total. So, it is still very near the front.

This is another assembly after breakfast time.

I was listening attentively to the announces made.

I was trying hard to put a brave front. I was happy during my breakfast and lunch time because Dadi and Mami were around in the canteen to watch me eat.

My favourite. Dry noodles for breakfast. Breakfast is at 9:45 a.m.

This is my lunch at 12:30 p.m.
Rice with cabbage, two different types of chicken meat and a bowl of soup.

Dadi and Mami were with me when school ended. I was glad that Mami was really tired and thristy. It gave me an opportunity to suggest for a cold drink outside. So, we went to Leisure Mall and bought a cold drink. I had an ice cream treat from Dadi too.

My dessert treat after school at Leisure Mall

My new blue cap

Mami took me cap-shopping b'coz my older caps were getting too small.  I chose this blue cap because blue is my favourite colour... but when I showed it to Dadi, he said Kai Yeh Alvin Boey would be very sad....

Why... blue not nice meh??

Kai Yeh Alvin Boey is a die-hard "Red" Devil....  my deepest apologies....

School starts tomorrow

School starts tomorrow. I guess there wouldn't be any more "kai kai" except during the weekends occasionally. I know Mami would be emphasizing on my school revision during the weekends.

Today is a boring day for me. Dadi and Mami were very busy doing some cleaning in their room. Lots of clearing, filing and cleaning for the entire half a day. Mami gave some activities for Shaun TiTi and I to do while they were busy.

We first started to complete a Dinosaur sticker book. I took out the stickers and Shaun Shaun would stick them into the sticker book.

Then Dadi came with many Chinese New Year cards and envelopes. We were requested to write some Chinese New Year cards for my loved ones and friends. This task really took us alot of time to complete.

Ah Mah was at home with us. Ah Mah had to take care of our lunch. We ate something which I refer as "flat flat noodles".... yum yum. It's just dry organic noodles with minced meat and fish cakes. My favourite.

I did not take my afternoon nap today. I am officially a grown up boy. No more napping because I can't nap anymore from tomorrow onwards. I would come back from school only at about 3:20 p.m.. It would be too late to nap.

As today is a Tuesday, I had my individual electone class.

For the rest of the day, I watched TV and played my favourite computer game in Facebook called the Backyard Monster. I really love to play this game because I can take control of my yard. I have a monster called Drull. I have always taken this monster Drull as my pet. It's my responsibility to ensure that I feed my pet on time. I have to ensure that my yard is protected by others who would occasionally attack me to steal my resources. So, I need to have a good strategy to build my defences and position my buildings and harvesters at the right place. Doesn't it sound interesting?

I am quite sad that school starts tomorrow. It also means that I have to say goodbye to my pet, Drull. Mami promised me that she will take over the yard and feed my pet once a day. She would only allow me to feed my Drull during the weekends. Bye-bye my beloved pet, Drull.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone. Is is already Year 2012.

As usual, we woke up early today. It's a Sunday, so, we all went to church. There wasn't any Children Ministry Class today. However, Aunty Madeline was really good. Half way through the sermon, she allowed us to go upstairs to our class and redeem gifts using our points earned from reciting memory verses. Shaun TiTi redeemed a sticker book and I redeemed a Word Search book.

We went to Great Eastern Mall after church. We ate in Cosy Corner and I ordered chicken chop with gravy. It's nice and tasty. Mami and Ah Mah bought some groceries at Cold Storage.

Shaun TiTi and I managed to take a nap and we went cycling again at the playground. I manage to cycle pretty well. I guess practise makes perfect. We spent some time on the slide and monkey bar too. I had just realised how difficult it was to swing on the monkey bar.

After our dinner, a few-doors-away neighbour was outside riding a scooter. My Shaun TiTi and I joined him outside. Not long after that, we asked permission for my neighbour to come in a play. He was also my kindergarten friend from the same class.

It's a great day today and I really wish that everyday is like today.... all fun, fun, fun.

On the last day of 2011....

What did you do on the last day of 2011?

I had lots of fun. In the morning, we went to Gardens, Kids eWorld. We went there for two reasons. The first was because we had lots of energy and if we are not tired enough, it would be difficult for us to take a nap in the afternoon. Secondly, Mami and Ah Mah had to go shop for Chinese New Year clothes. It's just round the corner.

We also had our hair cut. I reminded Mami and Dadi that I needed to ensure that my hair does not touch my eyebrow or uniform collar. So, here I am with my new haircut.

We brothers are soldiers. We are all ready to join the army.

Finally we attended Kai Yeh's party in his new home. We played pictionary as always. It's what I really looked forward to.

Dadi, Shaun TiTi and I

This was me using a Sparkler to draw on the road
This was Shaun TiTi touching the road.
The heart shaped  design was drawn by Ashley Cheh Cheh using a Sparker.

It was a fun time for us. Unfortunately we had to leave early and did not stay on very late. Dadi and Mami wanted us to get enough rest to ensure that we could wake up the next morning for church service.
