Inspired to play and sing along

I was inspired during my Yamaha Mini Concert by 2 Cheh Chehs (there were 2 sisters) who played a song on the piano and guitar and sang along. They played the song "Back to December" by Taylor Swift. They played and harmonized very well.

Inspired by this, I woke up on a Sunday morning, played a song on the piano and sang along. I composed the song on my own. Mami had no idea what song it was.

After playing for a while, I felt a little frustrated, and cancelled the song I composed on my book. It didn't sound as nice compared to the 2 Cheh Chehs.

Yamaha Music Graduation Concert

I am coming to the end of my JXC 1 class. My music teacher decided to have the Graduation Concert early because many students will not be around in December. My music teacher combined 3 group classes of different levels for this concert.

Goodbye to Enopi

I started attending Enopi when I was 5 1/2 years old. I would consistently attend my classes and complete the worksheets as required at home everyday. At each session, I am given 4 booklets of Maths and 2 booklets of Critical Thinking of which half has to be completed during class, and the remaining to be completed at home.

From Enopi, I have learnt to do Maths exercises faster than before. I am able to perform addition and subtraction easily. There is no secret formula given. I believe it's all about practice, practice and practice.

I started learning multiplication at Enopi. Mami feels that it is a little too early to learn this now, so, she has decided to stop my Enopi classes. To make up for this, she has prepared her own multiplication questions in an exercise book for me to do daily. She would repeat the 2 and 3 timestable everyday until I am able to answer them fairly quickly before moving on to 4, 5 ..etc...timestable.

Will I return to Enopi sometime later? I don't think Mami is keen. She believes that Enopi is excellent for ages 4-6 years old. It certainly provides a good foundation in Maths. Once Primary One starts, Enopi would not help in the Primary One syllabus. However, the discipline of practising Maths daily has to maintain.

Primary One Preparation

I'm not too sure if I am all excited about going to Primary One next year. Mami assured me that I will be able to meet new friends, and my teachers are nice teachers.

Mami would be busy buying new things for me later. She has started hunting for a good school bag for me. She is waiting to call up the school in December to see if the Primary One books are available to be purchased. Sales and discounts at major Departmental Store have probably begun, and we will wait till mid December to purchase my school uniform and shoes.

There is one thing which we started for this preparation..... Mami has purchased Primary One revision books from Popular Bookstore. She has started teaching me Primary One syllabus and I'm doing the exercises everyday. It is certainly more difficult than I thought it would be.

As my English subject is strong, Mami has less emphasis in this. She is concentrating in strengthening my BM, since Maths and Science would be taught in BM. I had previously learnt the subjects in Chinese. Although I was previously good at both the subjects, I now have to relearn it in BM.

My daily revision would cover the following:

1) Maths exercises of addition, subtraction and multiplication. As I no longer attend Enopi, Mami said that I should continue practising Maths daily. I would complete a page of all three each day. I find addition and subtraction easy, but I am still learning multiplication.

2) Aunty Ai Ling, whose daughter is also in the same Private School which I will be attending next year, gave a Primary One BM textbook to Mami recently. She believes that it would be the same textbook used next year. So, Mami has started teaching me based on the school textbook. In addition, Mami has supplemented other BM revision books to cover "Tatabahasa", "Pemahaman", "Susun Ayat" and "Bina Ayat".

3) Mami is running through Science fairly quickly with me. Although I already know the subject, but I am certainly not familiar in it in the BM language. So, my revision is also based on the Primary One Science KSSR syllabus covered in BM.

While I am spending time doing all this, Mami ensures that my Shaun TiTi sits with me and does revision too. Yesterday, I was such a caring brother. I took an exercise book and prepared some maths questions for him to do. You can read about it in Shaun TiTi's blog later.

New Kids Theatre Show - Gardner & Wife

Last month, Shaun TiTi had a school trip to watch the Selfish Crocodile at PJ Live Arts, Jaya One. I was hoping an opportunity like this could come my way too.

I was excited when I saw Mami's e-mail that there is an upcoming show.

I am still waiting for Mami's confirmation if she'll bring me there. Looks like I just have to wait patiently.

I started playing CHESS

Last Sunday night, I requested Mami to buy me a new boardgame called CHESS from Tesco. I have heard about it, but have never played the game. That night itself, Dadi had to take some time to teach me how to play the game.

I was so excited with the new game. As it was a Public Holiday on Monday, I called my Ah Kim to ask if I could go over to her house to play with my cousin, Nicolas Kor Kor. It was a challenging but fun game.

I continued playing the game with my Kakak and Mami when I came back from Ah Kim's house. In fact, I think I played the game almost the whole day. I was really proud when I managed to win over Mami in one game.

I can't wait to see Yeh Yeh and Mah Mah next month. I want to challenge them too in a game of Chess. My "know-it-all" Yeh Yeh would certainly be a challenge to me. I've got to practise more before I play with him.

Message from Mami:

Benjamin has always regarded his Yeh Yeh and Mah Mah as the "know-it-all" grandparents. He looks highly on them because Yeh Yeh seems to know every type of sports and games. He believes that Yeh Yeh and Mah Mah are highly intellectual because Yeh Yeh preaches in Church (Chinese Service) and Mah Mah is a retired teacher.

Good friends in my school bus

I love to write about my good friends. Sometimes, I'll write stories about them. Most of time, I'll write charts with their names on it. I made my own telephone and ID directory of my friends. My friends are Loke Yao Ren, Ko Yu Jian and Tobin Sia (Tobin is also my cousin). I call them my "group fighting friends". We love to pretend to fight like soldiers in the school bus everyday.

I would like to introduce them to you.

Loke Yao Ren is 6 years old and he is in Orange Class. He has a Ben10 bag and he likes to wear a Ben10 watch to school everyday.

Ko Yu Jian is also 6 years old from Orange Class too. He wears a Ben10 watch which is yellow in colour. He uses a red and black school bag.

Tobin Sia is 5 years old from Blue Class. He is also my cousin who stays nearby. He uses a grey bag and does not like to wear a watch to school.

As these friends are not attending the same class as I am, Mami is puzzled why I am so close to them. I told Mami we are close because they would always call me "Ben", thinking that I am "Ben10".

Starting to miss my teachers

I'm beginning to feel sad because I will be leaving this kindergarden soon. I know I'll miss my teachers. Last week, I made cards for each of my teachers. I wrote the following message on each of the cards:

"Thank you for teaching me in Tadika Midah. I will miss you when I go to Standard One".

I don't have all my teacher's photos but I found one which has most of my teachers from facebook.

Am so happy today. My whole family went to Tadika Midah for a Parents-Teacher meeting. Dadi and Mami are really proud of me. I have managed to obtain number one in position and I'm really proud of my achievements.

A coin box from Dadi

I was very happy when Dadi came back from Geneva. I was even happier when Dadi gave me a beautiful and colourful coin box he received from UBS when he was in Geneva. I went to school feeling very happy the next day and told my teacher about it. She gave me 10 cents for my coin collection :)

Went to UCSI Ensemble Concert

Dadi and Mami brought Shaun Shaun TiTi and I to UCSI University to watch an Ensemble concert yesterday afternoon. It was really nice. I saw many instruments being played, and songs being sung. Eunice Cheh Cheh was one of the MC and she was very pretty.

I dislike learning the Timestable

Mami has been teaching me the timestable. I am learning up to 7-timestable now. I understand the timestable, but I am really slow in reciting the timestable. Mami asked me to try memorizing it instead of counting from the beginning. An example of me counting from the beginning.... If it is 6 x 4, I would then recite 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24. It's really lengthy when it comes to 9 x 4. I can memorise some, but it's really difficult. I wish I don't need to learn the timestable :(

Practising for the Yamaha mini-concert

There will be a mini concert for the completion of JXC Book 1 in the next 2 weeks. 3 classes will be combined for this mini concert.

Instead of playing songs from the JXC Book 1, I will be playing 2 songs from the Electone Step 3, entitled........ "Ayura" and "Don't Worry".

My Electone Music Teacher had, all of the sudden, decided for me to play the song "Don't Worry". I had only learnt this song last week and am not quite good in that song yet. So, I guess I need to practice more in the next 2 weeks.

My pet turtles

I have always wanted pets. Mami dislike pets and discouraged me from getting one. She said that there would be too much responsibilities to take care of a pet.

Instead, I managed to find 4 turtles on the fridge and adopted them as my pet. These were given my Mami's ex-colleagues to her. There are 2 small ones and 2 big ones.

Went for a Clay Art session at Global Art Taman Midah on Sunday. Brought my cousins there too. We were all given an opportunity to make some figures. See what I made (except the green pig)...

My typical prayer at night

Mami has always commented that my prayer is very lengthy. I have lots to say and I can take about 15 minutes to complete my prayer. This was my prayer last night:

Father God,

Heal Yeh Yeh of his sore throat and cough. Heal Mami's ulcer. Heal Shaun Shaun's mouth so that he doesn't move his tongue. Heal everybody who has sickness. Bless everyday. Bless the Rumah Panjang and Kampung people. Bless everybody in other countries. Protect us from kidnappers and bad people. Protect every children from kidnappers and bad people. Protect adult also from kidnappers. Thank you for helping me get number one in school although I got 1 mistake in maths and 1 mistake in science. Help us to grow big and strong. Help us to sleep tonight. Help everybody to sleep tonight. Help Dadi to come back from Geneva safely. Help the weather to be good when Dadi comes back.... so that the pilot can fly the aeroplane and land the aeroplane...so that Dadi can come down.

Oh... my Mah Mah and Yeh Yeh were here in KL last week. Mah Mah shared with me a newspaper article about kidnappers. Since then, I have been praying for kidnappers. I shared with my friends in Tadika. My teacher even helped me explain to my friends to be careful of kidnappers.

I went to Logos Hope

I finally had the opportunity to go to Logos Hope. I was quite sad when I couldn't go initially. Dadi is in Geneva and Mami doesn't want to bring my Shaun TiTi. My Ah Mah was not keen to allow me to go, due to the distance.

It was so kind for Aunty Kay to agree to allow me to join her family to Logos Hope. She even took my cousins along (Nicolas Kor Kor, Ashley Cheh Cheh and Tobin TiTi). We had lots of fun and laughter.

Before leaving, Mami suggested for me buy some Enid Blyton books. Books which I could read, and of course... no baby books. Mami gave RM100 to Aunty Kay to buy the books chosen, and I....eer......eer.....spend ALL of it. In fact, I owed Aunty Kay RM5.00.

I initially wanted to buy the Multiplication Timetable,

but Aunty Kay discouraged me.

I purchased some small items, like a football keychain, bookmarks and a super jelly ball.

What was Mami's response to my purchases??? Well, it was my first shopping spree on my very own. I chose everything myself without knowing how to add the cost to it. I guess she forgave me after seeing that I really did buy some Enid Blyton books.

Finally, I would like to thank Aunty Kay, and the 2 Cheh Chehs for bringing me there and taking good care of me. Thank you for the ice cream treat too.

Presents for studying hard

I am so happy. I received two presents for studying hard for my exams. Mah Mah and Yeh Yeh bought me Cars 2 car and Ah Mah bought me a Hotwheels Custom Motors.
